FAQs

Who is this retreat for?
The Sabbath Retreat is adults-only, and open to any member of the NCC community ages 18+. Individuals and couples are both encouraged to register!

I am unable to hike 5 miles. Is there an alternative way to get to the lodge?
The Hike Inn is only accessible via foot travel. If the 5-mile hike is prohibitive for you, but you’re interested in attending an adult retreat, we encourage you to be on the lookout for information regarding NCC’s 2025 Men’s and Women’s Retreats!

What do I need to bring?
Guests are required to bring essentials, clothing and toiletries in their hiking backpack. Breakfast, dinner, bedding and linens are provided at the lodge. Trail lunches may be purchased for $12.

Can I come on Friday after work?
Everyone will be required to clear their Friday schedules in order to attend the Sabbath Retreat. The Hike Inn requires that all guests begin their hike at 2 p.m. ET to ensure that everyone arrives at the lodge before dusk. This means that everyone must depart from Hendersonville no later than 8 a.m. CT on Friday, January 31.

Where is the Sabbath Retreat?
The Sabbath Retreat will be held at the Len Foote Hike Inn in Dawsonville, GA. The path to the lodge begins in Amicalola Falls State Park, one of the most popular destinations in the North Georgia Blue Ridge. The 5-mile Hike Inn Trail begins as a part of the Appalachian Trail, then rejoins the AT one mile past the lodge.

What will we be doing on the Sabbath Retreat?
The Sabbath Retreat will provide a unique opportunity to marvel at God’s creation, unplug, unwind, connect with community members and dive deep into scripture. Our programing will include scripture studies, group activities, meals and hikes, with plenty of built-in rest time.

How will we get to Georgia?
Everyone is responsible for their own transportation to and from the trailhead in Dawsonville, GA. It is approximately a 4.5 hour drive from Hendersonville. We highly encourage carpooling, and we will coordinate meet-up times at the trailhead to ensure that nobody is hiking alone.

Will I be able to make phone calls and/or access the internet while at the Hike Inn?
Maybe. The Hike Inn aims to offer our guests a retreat away from the busy world. Because of this, the use of phones is not permitted in communal spaces at the lodge. There is a solar-powered charging station in the lobby, but there are no electrical outlets in the bedrooms. While there is no WiFi, some service providers may have data reliability at the lodge.

For more information, visit the Hike Inn website, or reach out to Keith or Ally.
